I’m Ebonee Akinsanya, a film photographer born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. My work resides at the intersection of portraiture, street photography, and cultural storytelling—capturing people in their most honest and unfiltered state.
My style is rooted in intentionality. I shoot primarily with black-and-white film, drawn to its timeless quality and emotional depth. I’m not interested in perfection—I’m interested in presence. In each frame, I aim to document truth: the joy, the tension, the stillness, and the energy exchanged between myself and the subject. Most of my portraits are created on the street, using natural light, conversation, and intuition as my main tools.
Whether I’m at a community event, walking through the city with my CAMERA, or connecting with strangers for a portrait, I always return to the same belief: photography is a form of love and remembrance.
